‘REVIVING HOPE’: CLIMATE RESILIENCE THROUGH SMALL TANK REHABILITATION

Reviving Hope: Climate Resilience Through Small Tank Rehabilitation" is a community-based initiative aimed at enhancing rural climate resilience in the Anuradhapura District by rehabilitating traditional small irrigation tanks. Through improved water management, sustainable agriculture, and community empowerment, the project addresses the adverse impacts of climate change, promotes food security, and supports inclusive rural development.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Primary

Improve climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods of rural farming communities in the Anuradhapura District through small tank rehabilitation by end 2026.

Beeragama Tank renovation to boost irrigation and farming
Initiation  of the Ilukkame Tank renovation process
Farmer organization awareness on Peenagama Tank renovation in Rambewa

Target Groups

Direct - Children in age group 06-18 from child clubs, Women from SHG’s, Principals, Teachers, Civil society organizations, District & Divisional Secretariat officers, Media personnel

Indirect - Family members of women in SHG’s, other children, youth, neighbors, District NGO Consortia, Women & Children’s Desk officers, MOH officers, National Dangerous Drug Control Board, National NGO’s, Community Facilitators, Project staff
