One Step Up is a development initiative implemented by SLCDF in partnership with Palmera Australia. The project aims to enhance the dignity, safety, and economic empowerment of sex workers by addressing stigma, improving access to essential services, and supporting alternative livelihood opportunities.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Primary

To enhance the dignity, safety, and economic empowerment of sex workers in Sri Lanka through stigma reduction, improved access to services, and sustainable livelihood development.

Target Groups

Direct -

  • Female sex workers in Colombo, Gampaha, Puttalam, and Kurunegala (approx. 5,000)

  • Children of female sex workers

  • 200 vulnerable families receiving livelihood and social protection support

Indirect - Peer educators, CSOs, religious and community leaders, and service providers engaged in advocacy and support activities
