EMPOWERING MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES – ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES IN KANDY DISTRICT’

The Empowering Marginalized Communities project is a 12-month initiative funded by the India Development and Relief Fund (IDRF) and implemented by the Sri Lanka Centre for Development Facilitation (SLCDF) in partnership with Kandurata Rajya Nowana Sanvidana Sandaha vu Sansadaya (HIFCO). The project aims to improve the livelihoods of poor and marginalized families in ten Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Kandy District through entrepreneurship development and enterprise creation, particularly among women.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Primary

Empower marginalized families in Kandy District to create and sustain micro-enterprises that generate stable income and build long-term assets.

Target Groups

Direct - 166 individuals from poor and marginalized families identified through 11 partner NGOs (with a focus on women)

Indirect - Community members, local suppliers, service providers, and government institutions involved in local enterprise ecosystems
