KARAICHCHI AND KANDAWALAI WOMEN EMPOWER COLLECTIVE PROJECT

The Northern – Karaichchi & Kandawalai Women Empowerment Collectives project is partially funded by Palmera Australia and implemented by SLCDF. This project aims to empower women from vulnerable communities in the Karaichchi and Kandawalai divisions of Northern Sri Lanka through the formation and strengthening of Women’s Empowerment Collectives. The initiative promotes inclusive economic development, leadership, and improved access to resources for women. The project is grounded in the principles of gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI), and sustainability, and aligns with local development priorities.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Primary

Empower women in the Karaichchi and Kandawalai divisions by improving their economic resilience, leadership, and community participation through collective action

Target Groups

Direct - Women from vulnerable households in Karaichchi & Kandawalai, including women-headed households, persons with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged women.

Indirect - Families and communities connected to the direct beneficiaries through economic and social ripple effects.
