Let the Women Decide their Destiny is funded by the European Commission and headed by SLCDF to empower marginalized women and their children of 6 districts to cope with the negative impacts of the ongoing socio-economic crisis. The project will provide capacity building. The project will be conducted over a period of 36 months.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Primary

Enhanced empowerment of 9,000 FSWs, DWs, and SWs and their children in Vavuniya, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Puttalam, and Colombo districts to cope with the negative impacts of the ongoing socio-economic crisis in Sri Lanka through the promotion of effective livelihood initiatives; legal, psychosocial, nutritional, educational support, and; collective advocacy efforts to protect and promote their socio-economic and political rights that have been alienated from them.

Target Groups

Direct - 40 Civil Society Organizations, 40 facilitators established within CSOs, 125 peer educators working with 9,000 Female sex workers, Deserted Women & Single Women, 20 facilitators as trainers to build capacity of female sex workers and peer educators, 40 barefoot nutritionists, 40 lawyers from the Legal Aid Commission, 200 Key government sector officials, 50 political leaders and representatives, 50 community and religious leaders (power holders), 30 schools and school development associations
