Overview


Reviving Hope: Climate Resilience Through Small Tank Rehabilitation is a community-based initiative supported by Palmera Australia, aimed at strengthening rural climate resilience in the Anuradhapura district by rehabilitating traditional small irrigation tanks, the protect enhances water security, promotes sustainable agriculture, and empowers local communities to adapt to the impacts of climate change. Through improved water management systems, capacity building, and inclusive community participation, the initiative contributes to long-term food security and rural sustainability.


Why This Makes a Difference


Rural farming communities in dry zones of Sri Lanka are increasingly vulnerable to prolonged droughts, erratic rainfall, and declining agricultural productivity caused by climate change. This project restores traditional irrigation systems that have sustained livelihoods for generations while integrating modern climate-resilient practices by empowering farmers, women, and youth to take collective action, Reviving Hope ensures that communities are better equipped to manage natural resources and secure sustainable livelihoods.

  • Climate Resilience Built: Enhanced water retention and irrigation efficiency through the rehabilitation of small tanks
