Overview
HARVEST is a development initiative that empowers vulnerable households in Sri Lanka’s Uva Province to improve food security, nutrition, and household income. By combining sustainable agriculture, home gardening, and community-based resilience, the project provides families with the tools and knowledge to thrive despite economic and climate-related challenges.
This initiative places a special emphasis on women-led households and self-help groups, ensuring that women are not just participants but leaders in transforming their communities toward food sovereignty and sustainable livelihoods.
Why This Makes a Difference
Households in Uva face persistent food insecurity, malnutrition, and unstable incomes due to socio-economic and climate pressures. HARVEST tackles these issues by promoting climate-smart agriculture, better dietary practices, and improved market access for women farmers—helping to build resilience for present and future generations.
