PROF. M.T.M. MAHEES

Prof M.T.M. Mahees is a senior academic at the Department of Sociology, University of Colombo, and currently serves as the General Secretary of the Foundation for Innovative Social Development (FISD). With extensive experience in research and teaching, he has published widely both locally and internationally in areas such as environmental sociology, water resource management, political ecology, development politics, human-wildlife conflict, and social harmony.
He has held several leadership roles, including President of the Arts Council and Senior Student Counselor at the University of Colombo. Prof. Mahees has also coordinated numerous research projects and training programmes related to climate change, gender studies, and volunteerism, contributing significantly to academia and social development in Sri Lanka.
